Flexible isolators also known as "glove bags" is an established technology providing a high containment solution for the contained processing of API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) enabling the handling of highly potent materials with low OEL’s ( < 1µg/m3) and preventing contamination of the operator, the environment and a barrier to significantly reduce the risk of cross contamination.
Glove bags are transparent flexible barriers designed specifically to enclose a piece of process equipment for an individual process operation. They form a small work area to confine the spread of material and virtually eliminate contamination.
The operators access to the work area is generally unchanged accessing the material and equipment through glove sleeves built into the glove bag panels.
They are low cost and in many cases disposable items and provide significant benefits versus traditional containment systems. Usually used for a single production cycle, and are not therefore subjected to the level of cleaning and validation of permanent solutions.
Equipment can be cleared and available for manufacture in a fraction of the time experienced for rigid isolators.
Our English partner Containment Service Provider Ltd offers a wide variety of Flexible Containment Systems configured to meet the requirement of the customer’s plant and equipment.
